Joystick Handle For Manual Stack Value

A number of our distributors have been asking for a joystick handle for the Series 34 manual stack valve. After much R & D work, we are proud to announce the release of option "A". "A" will serve as the nomenclature for the new joystick handle.

All parts in the joystick assembly are machined out of steel and fully heat-treated to ensure long life. The assembly has been thoroughly cycle tested with little noticeable wear. It was designed specifically to operate two adjacent Series 34 spools simultaneously or independently using one handle. It wold be normally used in conjunction with the standard spring centering option, but was also designed with the capability of using it with the "fourth position float option". One possible application for the joystick with the float position would be controlling a loader. One section to dump the bucket and the other to raise and lower the loader and utilize the float to skim the bucket across the ground when necessary. The possible applications for the joystick option are endless. Some examples would be controlling backhoe functions, bucket truck boom controls, forklifts, or any other applications where it would be more convenient to control two spool sections with one handle.

The joystick assembly is not currently available with a "protective boot enclosure", however, we do plan to provide one in the near future.

We are now accepting prototype orders, production runs should be available in 90-120 days. List price adder for the joystick option "A" will be $86.80. Please call our engineering group for more details.

Electronic Engineering

We have been busy in the research & development area. We have expanded with more test equipment and other resources, some of which have just been made available to the marketplace within the last year. There are several prototype controllers of diversified configurations out in the field and on the bench being tested at this time.

One of which is a dual controller package. This controller consists of two outputs for controlling two "EFC Series" valves from one controller. The controller can be configured with one or two knobs to control the valves. With one knob the valves can be controlled proportionally at the same time. With two knobs, the valves can be controlled proportionally but independently of each other. The dual controllers can also be configured with different switch arrangements.

Another prototype is a high current output controller. The maximum output current rating has yet to be finalized but it should be at least 1.5 amps nominal. This controller is in response to customers wanting to control high current rated coils found on other proportional valves in the marketplace. This controller will be available in the EC-12-01 & EC-12-02 controller packages to start with when all testing is completed.

Some new updates have been done to the EC-12-01 controller. The fuse holder has been moved from inside the box to the outside. This will make changing the fuse less time consuming and requires no tools. The new fuse holder is a special watertight design. Also, the four wires coming out of the box are now routed through a more durable and weatherproofed bushing. Furthermore, a seal has been added to the shaft of the potentiometer. This also adds improved weatherproofing and increased product durability and life. We have also added an LED (Light Emitting Diode) option to the EC-12-01 controller for indicating that the main power switch is on. The model number for the controller with the LED is EC-12-01L.

Continue to look for even more new products in the future as we continue to expand the electronic product line.

EFC 2-Port Valve

In order to achieve better performance in many of our customers' applications, we will be offering the EFC valves as either two or three port models. The two port valves will be tested exclusively as two port flow controls, have a special compensator spool, and different P/N. Valve part number - EFC12-**-12(2P) Control/valve Package#-CEP****(2PORT) or CEPD****(2PORT). note:(**-specify flow rate) For more info consult Brand Engr.

New Computer System Completed

We are pleased to announce the successful completion of our new computer system upgrade. All new computers, networking technology and a whole new manufacturing system have been installed.

One of the most beneficial aspects of this new system is the new MRP (material requirements planning) module. This allows us to view and plan our material requirements from a far more dynamic standpoint.

The new system has made some major internal improvements, which will allow us to provide you with better and faster service.

No More Vacation Plant Shut Downs

For a number of years now Brand has shut down our plant for a two week summer vacation. Not any more!!! In our efforts to provide you with more of what you need, we are discontinuing our summer plant shut down.

Phone Lines Open Over Lunch Hour

In the past Brand has shut down our phone lines between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Not any more!!! During our lunch hour, the phone lines will be open and sales and engineering staff will be available to assist you in our efforts to provide you with more of what you need.
