Marketing
In More Ways Then One

Since our last newsletter we've made some really exciting progress with respect to new marketing methods. We will be employing two new avenues of marketing for BRAND; an educational training video and the internet, via the World Wide Web.

Our training video is coming along nicely with 3/4 of it already completed. The video will take approximately 15 minutes to cover the EFC and EC, the two newest additions to our line, 25 minutes to cover the Series 34, our manual stack valve, and 20 minutes to cover the Series 36/38, our solenoid operated stack valve.

The video will include, but will not be limited to: specifications, specific assembly techniques for the stack valves and potential applications. We expect to have the video tape completed sometime during the second quarter of 1997. Copies of the video will be made for each distribution location and mailed out to the attention of the sales manager.

Our web site has been operational since the first of February; the address is http://www.brand-hyd.com.

The web site has five main areas:

How To Contact Us includes mailing and shipping addresses as well as phone and fax numbers. However, the new and exciting part of this area is that there are seven individual email addresses by which you may send mail directly to the computer of one of the following individuals:

About Brand Hydraulics includes photographs of Glen Brand, Greg Brand, Tim Chew, and Jeff Sealock. This area also has a couple of pages of text about Brand Hydraulics, the company, and our philosophy of doing business.

The Product Catalog area should prove to be the most useful in the fact that, eventually, it will have the entire current and up to date catalog sheets on every product we produce. Included in this area will be product descriptions, how to create a model #, dimensional data, and other relevant technical information.

The What's New area will include the newest of the Brand products, and any other new and important information about the company.

The Newsletter area will include the current newsletter, and all past and future newsletters for your future reference. These newsletters can have very important technical data included which may be of future use to you, or new sales reps. hired by your organization.

Changing Of The Guard

Ron Bredfeldt, our Chief Engineer, has retired after 19 years of service with Brand. We all wish Ron a happy and safe retirement.

Taking Ron's place as Chief Engineer is our own Chad Jarrett. Chad's ambitious nature, and eagerness to be involved in all aspects of the business, makes him our preferred choice as Chief Engineer.

Engineering Update
Keeping You Up To Date

The first of January, engineering made a change on the FC side lever square cut O-ring. What they have done is replace the B5049A square cut O-ring with part number P1616; a seal retainer made from glass filled nylon. Trapped underneath this seal retainer is an O-ring, part number SF359; see illustration below.

This change will greatly improve the durability and life span of the valve.

The next product that has under gone improvement is the Series 83, pressure compensated in-line flow control with free reverse flow. The valve is now rated to 10 G.P.M. and has a relatively constant pressure lose of 200 P.S.I.. Literature sheets will be updated and mailed ASAP. The performance of the valve has been greatly improved

Research And Development

Still in research and development, a joystick handle for the Series 34 manual valve. Some really good progress has been made, however, we are several months away from releasing the option.

A new, behind the dashboard mount, circuit board, for controlling EFC Series valves, is in the final testing stages of R&D and should be released soon! This electric circuit board will be an alternative to the larger, aluminum box enclosure, currently being supplied as the EC-12-01.

Another new product currently being worked by our engineering staff, is an electrically adjustable 4-way directional control valve. This product is a continuation of our research and development effort that began with the electrically adjustable flow control and electric control box.

We look forward to hearing from you soon, and will keep you updated on our progress with research and development.
